I've got a Rit and all this talk about needing to keep Isuldur on the ground has me wondering... would a build including Earthbind (and perhaps Wanderlust) have any chance here?

Just helped a guildie with this dungeon once again. He and his heroes pummeled Ilsundur and me and my heroes kept rezzing them with Vengeance from a safe distance. A long and tedious fight, but IMHO still a foolproof and relatively hassle free way to deal with the end boss both in NM and HM.

Got a perfect ele Astral Staff from the chest, too

Well, Ilsunder got wussified again with the latest update to remove his health regen ability. So I suppose the strategy of repeatedly throwing bodies at him with pain inverter and ressurecting at the shrine will work again.

The fast health regen was particularly annoying if you wiped and got rezzed at the "faraway rez shrine" (the one located near the Flame Guardian guy).

I would rather ANet had adjusted or weakened the irritating Fire Bomb skill than remove his health regen. The Fire Bombs are a major pain if you are h/h-ing this boss.

Still, this revision is better than nothing. At least ANet recognized something was wrong with this boss and attempted to fix it.

Heck it's too fool-proof now, I can keep hitting him with my epic wand dmg and kill him in a half-day but it's still killing him.

I would have preferred his helth regen to be halfed or something not taken away completely. Guess I will give it another go as I was getting bored of wasting 2hrs throwing bodies at him only to be rezzed far away and lose 10 minutes work.

So I tried it out. Takes about 4-5 min to take the boss down. Back to how I remember him being, not hard at all. About 4 or 5 rezs should do it.

Hmmm.... Just tried this dungeon/boss last night with my (signet smiter) monk in Normal Mode for the first time since the update/boss nerf -- and while Ilsunder is still challenging, it was my easiest run yet.

The funny thing was that I did not use Great Dwarf Weapon this time. It just went very smoothly: a couple of deaths during the encounter (mostly due to henches running into fireballs ) but no wipes. In other words, his removed health regen was not relevant, really. He just seemed easier. I wonder if they adjusted anything else?

I took Hayda (P/W; Song of Restoration/support), Goren (W/Me; Skull Crack/other interrupts), and Tahlkora (Mo/Me; a Healer's Boon healer), along with Zho, Mhenlo, Herta, and Devona. It was a long way to go for a crummy gold water magic focus, though.

One thing that did help, I think, was that my monk was strong on knockdowns (SoJ, etc.). Also, I followed a suggestion on wiki to set Tahlkora (giving her Heal Area helped, too, I think) a bit further back to support Mhenlo and the ranged guys, who in turn supported the melee group.

4 of us from guild managed this dungeon in HM, with no trouble at all using coupel of ursans, 3 eles and 3 monks. (all monks 1 ele hero). Only took about 1 hr to do the dungeon itself.

We had one party wipe at the boss, but using pain invertor he was dead on our second charge at him. Meteor shower and ursans for knockdown more than enough kept him down long enough to kill him easily. Just wish we had got something decent from the chest.

Now only slavers hm to finish the book

This dungeon has not become MUCH easier in HM due to:

1) Nerfs made to boss due to popular requests.
2) Ursanway makes it look dumb.

You don't, seriously. Orr HM is a cakewalk with the right build, Kathandrax harder, but doable, as is Frostmaw's. SS evidence of beating duncan with H/H is plentiful. Ooze Pit is the one I would least like to do with H/H (and one of only one or two that I actually did do with other people), but I have heard from people I trust that that too is possible.

Oh yeah kathandrax is possible to do with only H/H, but me and 2 friends run a team build with 3 humans, 5 heroes, that clears Kathandrax HM in +-30 minutes, with 3 essences and one armour per run though...costly, but we each contribute, and drops make it worthit...but yeah, i did all the dungeons H/H...was too lazy to get a full party coz they fail or leave halfway through anyways...Frostmaw i did with a friend (Imbagon) and our heroes too though...but other than that, its possible...just stack up on armour of salvations :P

Yeah, go me. Take a look at Ilsundur's health.
Didn't realized I was the only one with less than 60 DP.
So, my death-->epic failure.

Next time, wich is not gonna be anytime soon, I'm going to bring a powerstone, just in case. :|

not bad 30min kathandrax HM lol. my best time is something like 40, but I don't use cons for dungeons unless doing speed slavers

and yeah, agreed that ANY dungeon can be done h/h, if you have the right builds. PvE in general is all about knowing what skills heroes use well, and then knowing which corner is best to block the massive mob of scary guys on. I obviously prefer doing dungeons with friends as its faster and I dont like microing heroes, but have done every dungeon at least once with mhenlo :-/

sucks about DPing out of kathandrax at Ilsundur clovers ftw?

I'd think after reading this that getting to Ilsundur would be harder than Ilsundur itself.

The areas beforehand are so chocked full of Fire elementalists that I'm not sure how to tackle this dungeon as a whole. I've already got myself set as BHA, but the rest of my team is too questionable for me to want to take on this dungeon yet.
